The Delta's Choice movie awards have
been the most prestigious and sought after
award in the motion picture industry since
the 1970's. Valued far above the Oscar or
Golden Globe by those in the know. Delta's
Choice was instituted by the co-founders to
acknowledge and reward the best films and
performances of each year.
In order to qualify for a Delta's Choice movie award a film
must meet all these criteria:
The film must have been released in the USA between
October 1 of the previous year and December 31 of the
voting year. General release takes precedence over limited
release which takes precedence over film festival release.
The Film must have been viewed for the first time by at
least one member of the executive committee within the
calendar year
The film must have been viewed for the first time by all
members of the executive committee between December
1st of the preceding year and January 31st of the following
year.
How the awards are chosen
The Delta Films executive committee watches all the
qualified films. By January 31st the committee members
each nominate their choices for best movies and
performances in each category. The nomination list is then
assembled and sent to the entire executive committee to
vote on. Each member ranks each nominee in each
category first to last. The votes are then secretly tabulated
and averaged and the results are sealed until the awards
are announced.
